Reiki treatment, of itself, acts as the profoundest enabler of personal development, because the work is shared and directed from the perspective of the person’s true situation. However without a Coach, to spur the individual on, one would rarely reach inherent potential. Here the expected potentials are challenged and the recipient shown how to move forward, through the presenting options. Personal responsibility becomes paramount, but only once issues of Arrested Development have been overcome. Whilst Reiki Treatment and Training can facilitate this work, it is the client who has to be individually coached through their own particular and unique set of self inflicted impediments to progress.

Arrested Development
The entire world is awash with the products of arrested development. Those products are also the people we meet and are found in the structure of the society we are immersed in. We are each determined by the experience of Birth. This primary ‘Rite of Passage’ initially defines the shape and form of our response patterns. It is a fundamental requirement of evolutionary life to take control and cognisance of how we respond to any stimulus.
By asking any Mother, how their Child’s Birth proceeded, gives the greatest wealth of pertinent facts that will primarily reveal, how the Mother relates to that particular Child. In what condition the Child first encountered the world determines both their initial picture of self and how they relate to their Mother. The condition of that Mother creates a feedback loop between Mother and Child. The various manifestations of the importance of The Family Unit are initially explored below and are more fully scrutinised in Interesting Articles. Damaged relationships to Mother and all issues of damaged Nurture are overcome through the initiations of the Foundation First Degree. Damaged relationships to the Father and manifestations of the prevalent Spiritual voids, in our society, are overcome through doing the work enabled by Journeyman Second Degree attunements. Broken inner relationships, to a wounded Child, are integrated through Soul Retrieval (examined in Medicine Powers).
One of the common forms and most easily examined examples, of Arrested Development, are found with the increasingly prevalent medical intervention of the Caesarean Section Birth. Here the very obvious normal rite of passage, through the birth canal, is circumvented by anatomical necessity, or increasingly utterly unnecessary Medical Interventions, as an elective procedure. The Child does not go through the compressing and transforming birth canal and the Mother experiences no endorphin release, causing a breakdown in the natural amplification of the bonding process. It takes extraordinary effort to overcome this form of birth trauma and requires an intervention of equal power to correct the resultant imbalances. When working with individuals, it is crucial to identify where past trauma, or failures, have impacted upon and created blocks in the normal developmental cycles. Identifying and alleviating these arrests enables massive personal growth. Stepping past developmental arrest takes personal responsibility and a creative perspective that may only be possible, through another person’s intervention.

Rites of Passage
In today’s world, few people are lucky enough to be competently led through their personal ‘Rites of Passage’. The most easily recognised being Births, Marriages and Deaths. Ancient Tribal and Clan based cultures all held fast to ceremonies, that acknowledged our key developmental milestones and guided us safely through them. Remnants of these practices exist in Christening, Bar Mitzvah and similar rituals, standardised and maintained through organised religion. However many do not practice any form of faith and those that do, often have no grasp of the significance of their prescribed actions. So the proper conduct of people through their key life stage ‘Rites of Passage’ is mainly left to chance.
This stance may seem somewhat aloof, but if one looks at the conduct of our so called ‘Civilisation’, you will see rampant Consumerism (the new religion) and faux Environmentalism (emerging as a new ‘new’ religion) designed to quieten the masses, from genuinely addressing the causes of their predicament.
The chaos of life can throw up ‘natural’ adversity, enforcing an unguided transformational ‘Rite of Passage’. Personal relationships to our individual ‘Rites of Passage’ can be coached through, especially when triggered by attunement, Shamanic or Spiritual ceremony and Reiki treatment.
